Cafes of Japan: Ashiya
Introducing a new series of short films, Cafes of Japan. Our team headed out to immerse themselves in the coffee culture of Japan and explore some of the best coffee spots this wonderful country has to offer. So sit back and enjoy the journey as we travel across Japan, starting in Ashiya.
In the picturesque city of Ashiya, known for its tranquil streets and charming atmosphere, there exists a quaint and unassuming coffee shop that captures the essence of Craftsmanship—Rio Coffee. Tucked away in a serene neighborhood, this hidden gem is not just a place to grab a cup of coffee; it serves as a gathering point for coffee enthusiasts and community members alike.
It was here that we had the pleasure of meeting Toshimasa Yogi, a figure whose presence is as warm and inviting as the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting through the shop. In 2023, Toshimasa served as a juror at the prestigious Cup of Excellence in El Salvador, a testament to his deep knowledge and expertise in the world of coffee.
Upon engaging in conversation with him, his unwavering passion for environmental sustainability within the coffee supply chain becomes strikingly clear. Toshimasa is not only committed to sourcing high-quality beans but also to ensuring that the practices involved are ecologically responsible and beneficial to both the environment and the community. He strives to cultivate a connection between the farmers who produce the coffee and the local patrons who enjoy it, ensuring that every cup served at Rio Coffee tells a story of dedication, care, and sustainability.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Toshimasa for trusting Ditting grinders to bridge the gap between his exceptional coffee offerings and the customers who cherish them. His commitment to quality and sustainability is inspiring, and it is evident that he is making a meaningful impact in Ashiya and beyond.
